About Gjon Feinstein

Paladin Chess Training is run by Gjon Feinstein, who has been playing chess since 1972. Gjon attained the United States Chess Federation title of "National Master" in 1984, and has been a private instructor since 1985. He has taught students at all experience levels and currently focuses most of his efforts toward scholastic (youth) chess.

He began teaching in schools in 1995, and has provided instruction in over 25 Santa Cruz County Schools — public, private, and homeschools. Gjon is on the staff of Carden El Encanto School in Santa Cruz as a chess teacher during the regular school day. He currently also provides weekly afterschool and lunchtime instruction at about ten county schools.

Gjon has a passion for both for the game of chess and teaching. He uses chess as a learning tool and to convey the game's fun and beauty.
