Chess Team

Gjon provides weekly coaching for students interested in joining his chess team, the "Paladin Knightmares". Sessions are designed for experienced players who are interested in participating in tournaments throughout Northern California.

Weekly training sessions include lectures on more sophisticated concepts, game review, and practice games. Players learn and use tournament-style concepts, such as written game notation and time-controls with chess clocks. Team members build a sense of camaraderie and group pride while enhancing thier game play. For ongoing team information, please signup for the team Mailing List.

Gjon has successully coached many teams over the passed few years. His teams have won the following major tournaments:

• 2005 CalChess State Scholastic Championships, K-3 Primary Premier Division
• 2000 CalChess State Scholastic Championships, K-3 Primary Premier Division
• 1999 CalChess State Scholastic Championships, K-3 Primary Premier Division
